See below a step-by-step guide on how to apply for a PDN:
Step 1:
Go to any SGNIC accredited registrar and check for the availability of the name you want using their portal. Choose the extension as well. You have a choice of 6 extensions to select (Refer to question 2).
Step 2:
If the name and extension you want is available, you may apply with the same registrar by registering your request** according to the instruction given on the registrar’s portal.
Prior to applying for a PDN via SGNIC’s registry system, you should check SGNIC’s Rules of Registration to determine whether if you are eligible for the category of interest before submitting the application.
**NOTE: the available name applied is not assigned to you as yet at this stage.
Step 3:
Proof of eligibility is required if you apply for com.sg, org.sg, edu.sg, net.sg and per.sg. The proof is required due to the registration rules for each of the extension. To understand the registration rule, please click here.
Registrar will reply you in a few days (according to each registrar’s service delivery period) on the acceptance of your eligibility proof and/or your application. The registrar will then collect the premium fee required which is $20,000 plus the prevailing GST or $500 plus the prevailing GST. Registrar will submit the payment to SGNIC.
Should the application fail at any point in the process, the premium fee will be refunded through the registrar.
Step 4:
For a successful application, registrar will inform you on the assignment of the name a few days later (according to each registrar’s service delivery period).
From this point, SGNIC’s WHOIS (domain registration information) will show the details of your registration.
